ADRANTS vol. 2: Luky Me! Lomi
Here's another food commercial which makes me scratch my head. And it's from Jimenez Basic as well. I have no idea why, but I don't really like the way Derek Ramsey eats. Even on the Nesvita commercial I was disturbed when I saw him lick his lips. I guess this is also the case in his new commercial for Lucky Me! Instant Lomi. In this commercial, he looks angry as ever, but for some reason he says that what he's eating is good. Then he continues on to slurp the noodles and groan in ecstasy. It's... haunting. I don't know what people who actually find the actor attractive think of this commercial, but something in me just doesn't see him fit to endorse food.
ADRANTS vol. 1: Greenwich
Alright, so maybe I don't have much of a problem with the commercial itself. Honestly it is kinda funny. But I do think that the premise of food targeted to men, with the label "for men" is a bit... off. First of all, why would Greenwich want to limit the market of their product? By slapping the "for men" label on their pizza, women would be put off from ordering them. Men on the other hand, well... I'm not really sure how I would react to that. I don't think gender-specific food in general is appealing. I mean, it's not like a feminine product like shampoo or lotion which men wouldn't normally buy unless it stated specifically that it's for men (hello, Clear and Nivea). It's meat. Men are normally attracted to that. Err... That sounded wrong. Anyway, the fact that they added the "for men" label made it sound like their other pizzas are girly, and that the pizzas for men are trying too hard. Manly men don't need to announce that they're manly. You just know it. Seeing as Greenwich took the liberty of writing it in red block letters with a black background just proves that this is actually un-manly.
